Global Money Week 2023:
“Smart Money Talks”

Empowering the next generation to break the taboo around personal finance and build healthy financial habits through open conversation.

The Mission

Global Money Week (GMW) is an annual global campaign organized by the OECD/INFE to ensure young people are financially aware from an early age. Since its inception in 2012, it has reached over 60 million children across 176 countries.

The 2023 Theme

This year’s theme, “Smart Money Talks”, recognizes that while young people face complex financial choices—from student loans to digital scams—they often feel uncomfortable asking for help. We aim to turn “daunting” into “doable” through dialogue.

FPI South Africa: Sustainability & Awareness

Join Nici Macdonald, CFP® (HOD of Certification at FPI), Luke Martin, CFP®, and Mona Manzambi, CFP® as they explore how our financial behavior impacts the environment and society.

Key Focus Areas

🛡️ Digital Protection: Identifying online scams and protecting personal data in a digital-first economy.
💬 Open Dialogue: Confidence to discuss money matters with family and trusted independent advisors.
🌱 Sustainable Habits: Understanding how individual spending influences collective environmental health.
📉 Resilience: Learning to navigate student loans, earning, and the risks of “fear of missing out” (FOMO).

GMW2023 co-organized by OECD/INFE and global financial authorities.
Financial education is an instrument for a more sustainable and inclusive growth.
