I joined Simeka Consultants & Actuaries in January 2010 as a consulting actuary, and am based in Pretoria.
Prior to that, I spent eight years working for Mercer in the United Kingdom, where he was responsible for providing a range of consultancy and actuarial services to a portfolio of domestic and international clients. I qualified as an Actuary when I became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2008, and I am currently a Fellow member of both the Actuarial Society of South Africa and the Society of Actuaries of Namibia. I am accredited by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority as an approved valuator of defined benefit and defined contribution retirement funds, and am a Certified Financial Planner® professional.
I have extensive experience in employee benefits, both in respect of pure actuarial work and in respect of wider consulting responsibilities. I also manage Simeka’s third party claims practice, and acts in Court as expert witness for these types of claims.
I have previously served on the Actuarial Society of South Africa’s Retirement Matters Committee, which is responsible for support to actuaries and development linked to retirement and related funds. I currently serve on the Actuarial Society’s Damages Committee, which assists actuaries and facilitates communication, discussion and liaison within the profession on relevant topics related to damage assessment.
I have a B.Com.Honours degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Pretoria, and have completed a post-graduate diploma in financial planning at the University of the free-state.
