Louis van der Merwe is the co-founder and director of WealthUp, an independent financial planning firm situated in Durbanville, Cape Town.
Louis started his career in 2009 in the financial services department at an auditing firm in Cape Town, balancing both the technical and the personal side of financial planning.
He holds the designations:
– CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®
– CERTIFIED FINANCIAL TRANSITIONIST®
– FIDUCIARY PRACTITIONER OF SOUTH AFRICA®
He completed his B.Comm degree at the University of Stellenbosch as well as the Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (Stellenbosch University) (cum laude). Further to this, he finished his Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning at the University of Free State, specializing in investment management as well as an Advanced Diploma in Estate and Trust Administration at the University of Free State (cum laude) where we also received a top-student award.
Louis mainly works with widowed people to help them make complex decisions about money and life through a coaching approach. He has a passion for technology and helping people. Louis is also the host of the Ensombl Advice South Africa Podcast where he shares conversations with financial planners and experts across the globe.
