Janet Hugo

Janet brings extensive wealth management expertise from her previous role as a director at Hugo Capital. With a passion for growth and knowledge, Janet invests time in taking the complexity of financial services and investments and translating these into understandable, practical applications for her clients. Her primary motivation is building and preserving client wealth, which drives her continuous pursuit of independent, holistic financial guidance.
In 2006, Janet started and ran the Sunday Times Wealth Forum and later the Finance Week Wealth Forum, which involved a series of published articles, media exposure, and public presentations.
Since 2010, she has actively promoted professionalism in the financial advisory industry, serving as Chairperson of the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa’s Investment Committee for a time.
In 2018, the professional body chose Janet as Financial Planner of the Year. This award recognises excellence in all areas of financial planning, particularly investment management, taxation and estate planning. More recently, Janet co-authored and published a textbook in 2023 with LexisNexis aimed at financial planners aiming to pass their board exams.
