“If there is one thing I’ve learnt in my life it’s that anything is possible with the right planning and commitment. I know this from personal experience and from having seen the transformation and relief in so many of my client’s lives.”
I have been in the financial services sector since 1996, starting off as an articled clerk with Ernst and Young and Grant Thornton. I have held a number of varied positions in corporates including being the accountant, then financial director and finally managing director of Balltron (Pty) Ltd. Since 2010 I have been a financial planner with a growing private practice.
Having completed a Post Graduate Diploma in financial planning from the University of the free-state [UFS] in 2015, I went onto to write the PCE Board Exam in August 2016, which having passed successfully entitled me the use of the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® accreditation.
I turned my focus to financial planning after suffering a life-threatening illness and experiencing first hand the true benefit of having the correct cover and plan in place. I realised just how few people understand the power of forward planning and adequate cover. It was a turning point in my personal and professional life and presented a great opportunity to merge my vocational expertise with a lifelong passion for helping others.
Subsequently to being in the industry I have had my view financial planning reinforced having suffered a heart attack, being diagnosed with Diabetes and having shattered my wrist in a cycling accident, all events which would have caused a huge financial and emotional loss had I not had the correct plans in place.
Some of my life achievements have been to build and run a restaurant in the Karoo for a year and to climb Mount Aconcagua (6 960 mt’s), Mount Kilimanjaro (5 896 mt’s) and Mount Elbrus (5 642 mt’s), with the goal of summiting the Seven Peaks the highest being Mt Everest (8 850 mt’s). I went from 138 to 79 kilograms in just 2 years.
