In 1991, Alfred started his career training and developing financial advisers, and building distribution models in the Unit Trust industry. He moved into the role of Area Manager (Financial Advice) for Standard Bank Financial Consultancy in 2001 and later became a Franchise Principal for Discovery Financial Consultancy in 2009.
His wide industry experience enabled him to embark on his own advice practice in 2010 which he consolidated at Old Mutual in 2012. Here he invested in lifestyle financial planning and became an Integrated Wealth Planner, one of a select few. Alfred notes that he saw “an overwhelming need for advice rather than sales” – an approach which became a game-changer in the industry. His insights into this role and the strategic outcomes of this approach saw him partner with Adviceworx in 2018.
Alfred’s preference for long-term advice relationships is based on his holistic financial approach which situates financial planning as a life journey. That he is IBCC certified (Integrated Behavioural Coaching) adds an integral dimension to his lifestyle planning as it helps clients understand their relationships and behaviours around money.
Describing himself as analytical, and detail-orientated he values integrity, trust and open communication.

I have a passion for people and I have gained a tremendous amount of experience over the past 22 years in the long term insurance industry regarding financial planning, specialising in helping members retire from their pension, provident and retirement funds as well as Investments. I believe members/clients should rewire and not retire.
I also have a passion for life. I have complete 10 Comrades, done adventure racing, the Mount Everest Marathon in Nepal and hiked the Manchu Picchu Inca Trail in Peru to mention a few. Now I keep fit by running, cycling or walking next to the Crocodile river on a daily basis. Living next to the Kruger Park has given me a new level of appreciation for Nature. I enjoy reading, it is fundamental to functioning in today’s society, it develops your mind, you discover new avenues and reading develops your imagination.

I have worked as an Employee Benefits Specialist, starting with Alexander Forbes and Negotiated Benefits Consulting (NBC) some 30 years ago. I have been an Independent Trustee, Principal Officer, and Chairperson for more than a decade. I am as knowledgeable and experienced as you can get with every type of retirement fund: defined benefit and defined contribution, insured and self-administered, union-negotiated, industry funds, and umbrella funds. I am an expert with problematic funds and in this regard, I am often appointed by the FSCA, as a Section 26 trustee. I also love the challenges of umbrella funds. I am proactive and drive the process. I have capacity.

I started with in Financial Services with a Liberty Life franchise in 2001 at the age of 24. I was told that for someone at my age to survive in the insurance industry would be a big challenge, I beat the odds by winning rookie of the year in 2002 and then going on to be one of the Liberty Chairman’s challenge winners in 2003. I quickly grew my client base to 300 clients, in early 2004 a group of 6 advisors including myself broke away from the aforementioned franchise this resulted in the birth of the Quattro Group of which I am a founding member and divisional director. I have now grown my client base to just fewer than 900 active clients and I have 4 support staff which includes a Para-planner assisting me with the daily operations. I have an investment book with an approximate value of R80,000,000. I have a team of 8 advisors that I mentor and supervise. because of the team I have behind me we have successfully managed to qualify in the Top 30 with Momentum for over 10 years. I enjoy helping others succeed. I have a young family and am also involved in other business’s which gives me the ability to give advice based on personal experience. I believe that you should treat every person as your equal and your family must never suffer at the expense of your career.
